Instagram has introduced 10 new photo editing tools for their users earlier this week. These new additions are more than just photo filters and they are available for both the iOS and Android devices.

Now Instagram users can adjust the lighting levels with the new tools. Brightness, contrast, shadows and highlights have been added to the photo editing options. As welinstagraml as adding these new editing features, Instagram has improved the original saturation and contrast options with a simple slide bar. Director of product at Instagram, Pete Deng told Mashable “All of us [at Instagram] are kind of photo geeks, but we’re trying to bridge the gap between being a photo geek and the rest of the world,” Instagram’s always been about taking these tools that were previously inaccessible … and making them accessible for free for everyone that uses Instagram.”

The complete list of editing tools include:

  • Adjust (lets you crop and straighten photos simultaneously)
  • Brightness
  • Contrast
  • Warmth
  • Saturation
  • Highlights
  • Shadows
  • Vignette
  • Sharpen
  • Filter strength (the border tool is now within the filter strength setting)

The new updates for Instagram are available now and the app updates are being pushed through to the App Store for iOS devices and and through the Google Play Store for Androids.
