Happy Fourth of July everyone! To add to the celebrations, we thought we would share 4 powerful SEO tips that are sure to brighten up your SEO strategy.

  1. When trying to choose the best keywords to describe and target for your site, utilize free online tools to help. Google’s Adword Keyword Tool and Bing’s New Keyword Tool are two good ones. Google’s keyword tool will give you a number estimation of how many times that keyword was searched in Google (1stop-seoso you know what people are actually searching for) and what the competition is for that word (low, medium or high). The lower the competition, the easier it is to rank for that word. Bing’s keyword tool is part of a new set of Bing Webmaster tools. Sign up free with your website to gain access to all the tools. This is one of the only keyword tools that gives you results from organic searches, leaving the paid ads out of the equation, so you can find out how many times people actually search for a certain keyword or phrase locally.
  2. If you’re trying to rank for those high competition keywords that everyone wants, also try for the words that are in less demand– words that are slight variations of your ideal keywords. These are called “long-tail keywords.” They are easier to rank for, help you increase your site traffic, and could even help you appear in the results for those tough high competition words as well.
  3. Make sure your chosen keywords appear in your unique page titles, page headlines, body copy, bold words in the copy, and links to other pages throughout your site.
  4. Use your social media networks to their fullest potential. Utilize Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google+ for your business to connect with other professionals in your field and people who may be interested in your products or services. Also use sites like Quora and Yahoo! Answers to spread your expertise (and your name!) by answering questions that relate to your business field.
