Studies have shown that mailings which include a promotional product are far more effective than ones without a product.  A recent research study conducted by Georgia Southern University examined the behavior of pre-registered show attendees.

The attendees were divided into three groups. Group A:  Received a postcard invitation to visit the exhibitor’s booth. Group B:  Received an inexpensive promotional magnet with the exhibitor’s logo and an invite. Group C:  Received a postcard offering a t-shirt for redeeming the postcard at the exhibitor’s booth.

Seventy-eight percent more people responded to the t-shirt offer than the postcard alone and fifty-seven percent more people responded to the magnet than to the postcard alone. Clearly, including a promotional item with a pre-show mailing increased interest in attendees and the likelihood that they will visit your booth or location to learn about your company. Another study conducted by Promotional Products Association International (PPAI) revealed the reaction and relationship of promotional items and their recipients. The study found:

  • 83 % of consumers surveyed reported they like receiving promotional products with an advertising message.
  • 74% of respondents have a least one promotional product in their workspace.
  • When asked about items which make a favorable impression, a food basket, Mp3 player, clock, shirt, digital picture frame & luggage received the biggest thumbs up.
  • 89% of consumers surveyed could recall the name of the advertiser on a promotional product they received in the last 24 months.
  • 90.4 % of respondents reported either currently owning or possessing a promotional product received within the last 24 months.
  • 52% of respondents did business with the advertiser after receiving the promotional product.
