To say that 2020 was a challenging year is definitely an understatement! We hope that you and your loved ones have stayed healthy throughout this virus ordeal and that the vaccines being rolled out will enable our lives to get back to some semblance of normalcy!

As many of you know, the pandemic caused Bermuda’s airport to close back in mid-March, resulting in the temporary closure of our resort and every other hotel on the island at the same time. The Bermuda government re-opened the airport on July 1st and their strict COVID-19 testing requirements for anyone flying to the island have definitely helped keep the virus out of Bermuda, along with minimizing its spread. Our resort re-opened on August 28th, however, due to on-going concerns related to the current pandemic and the resulting lack of demand stemming from people’s unwillingness to fly on airplanes and travel through airports, we decided to temporarily close Pompano again, from November 15th to February 25th of 2021. The well-being of our guests and employees remains a top priority of our management team.CLICK HERE to view our resort’s current health & safety protocols.

Enhancements we made to our facilities this past year were as follows:

Updated Property Amenities

Property Updates

– We re-tiled our kiddie/wading pool in February and expanded the shaded sitting area on our pool deck at the same time, adding several new outdoor loveseats to it.

– An expanded parking area for the island’s popular electric mini car rentals was constructed adjacent to the new pickleball courts in June.

– We’ve just opened our first ever hair salon, in the former entry foyer area of our oceanfront fitness center.

Three New Pickleball Court

New for 2021

– In May, we converted our clay tennis court into three pickleball courts due to the increased popularity of pickleball among people of all ages.Tennis lovers can still play tennis on Port Royal’s four all-weather courts (located a 400 yard walk from our resort).

– The year long construction of our new solar farm (Bermuda’s first commercial solar farm) is nearly completed. The solar panels are located high atop the hill (above our Amberjack building) and will provide solar energy to our entire property!

We’ll once again be adding quite a bit more sand to our beach during the first three weeks in February, to replace the sand that washed out onto our shallow sandbar during the year. As many of you know, beach sand replenishment is always a major priority of ours each winter. Our “Spa del Sol” has become very popular with local residents and hotel guests alike. Marisol Raynor-Saldana, our spa’s hands-on owner/manager, is always introducing new programs to attract spa goers to her facility (ie; beach yoga, Pilates classes, etc.). This winter, we’re planning to significantly enlarge our oceanfront sand deck. The current paver stone pathway which runs from the watersports’ center stairs to our raised sand deck, will be widened and filled with beach sand, umbrellas and chaise lounges. This will give you a lot more oceanfront seating options – great for viewing our breathtaking sunsets!

As a final note, the island’s new state-of-the-art airport terminal opened on December 9th, with new jetways making it easier for everyone to board and exit their flights. In 2021, we’ll once be offering several “extra night free” promotions to encourage you to stay with us again. Please refer to the “SPECIALS & PROMOTIONS”
page on our website for more details.

We’ve put together a brief slideshow of our resort in conjunction with a song called “Pompano” that was written and sung by New England based singer/songwriter, Todd Thibaud (www.toddthibaud.com). CLICK HERE to enjoy Todd’s smooth island vibes, as you view popular photos of our resort.
