Healthcare organizations need to monitor their performance and improve the quality of the services they deliver, or make available to their patients/members. Describing Function can provide healthcare organizations with instruction on using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability & Health (ICF) to further their strategic plans. The capacity of healthcare organizations to utilize the ICF to support planning and decision-making has been limited by both unfamiliarity with the relatively new classification and the inability to gather all ICF-based information electronically. We address both of these limiting factors through partnerships and collaborations.

The organizational objectives of Describing Function LLC:

• Join forces with other healthcare professionals to engage and educate healthcare organizations providing rehabilitation and hospice and palliative care services
• Work with software vendors to help create software that will support use of the domains and categories contained in the ICF
• Collaborate with State, National, and International organizations to promote use of the ICF
